30. your reflection in the mirror
so here's the final letter :L I know I know, it's about time :P
to my reflection,
brush your hair. clean your glasses. erh, wash your feet?
You've got to learn to let down your pride a little but. Stop taking things for granted. Learn to say sorry. Know that your friends are forever, and they ain't leaving any time sooner. Relax. Move on, it does not do to dwell on things. See that the best things are right in front of you. Learn perserverance, and don't just give up; it may rain now, but the storm can't last forever. Stop wishing for things, and do what you can to make those wishes come true. Sometimes the people you thought you always knew and trusted can surprise you. We all make mistakes. Note that mistakes it plural. Realise that mass organisation and being a control freak can't stop some catastrophes from happening.
That's what I'd like to tell my reflection.
Amy sent me an email, titled 'The meaning of life'. I'd like to thank her, because I read this to myself every day as a pick-me-up, and a self pep talk when I feel shit, so in a way, I tell my reflection this everyday :P:
'...I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received...'
Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)
Paul says: '...I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.'
What would that life look like?
Well, life isn't about keeping score.
It's not about how many friends you have on Facebook, it's not about who you've dated, are dating, or would like to. It isn't about what sport you play, or how well you played or didn't play last week. It's not about your hair, your shoes, the colour of your skin, where you live or where you go to school.
In fact, it's not about grades, money, clothes, or even whether that uni accepts you or not. Life isn't about if you have lots of friends, or if you are alone, and it's not about how accepted or unaccepted you are.
Life just isn't about that.
It's about choosing to love, not hate.
It's about trust, contentment, and compassion.
It's about sticking up for your friends, and praying for your enemies.
It's about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and encouraging others.
It's about what you say and what you mean.
It's about seeing people for who they are and not what they have.
Most of all, it's about choosing to use your life to touch another's in a way that could never have been achieved otherwise.
These choices are what life's about.
